Website Basics
Step 1 - you need a domain name E-mail

When one thinks about the name of a website, something like 'www.yoursitename.com' comes to mind.  The official name for this is called a 'domain name'.  The actual 'name' of a website is really a series of numbers called an 'IP address'. Like our home address uniquely identifies our house, the Internet uses IP addresses to locate websites.

A domain name is not a website or a Web server.  A domain name provides a cross-reference between the website name and the exact location of the Web host.  A Web host/server is the computer where the web-pages reside on.

Whenever I create a website for a customer, there is usually no fee for the domain name and the hosting fee is directly passed to the customer.  This makes your costs much lower.

I take care of getting you the domain name for your site as well as a host for your site.

Step 2 - you need a host for your website E-mail

Have you ever wondered when you type something like 'www.amazon.com', where theirearth.png computer is located?  The Internet is made up of a vast array of computers located around the United States and throughout the world.  It is not uncommon to have a website be many states away, even though the company is local.

A good web host needs to be connected directly to the Internet.  These connections are located in major metropolitan areas.  Likewise, a web host is often located in one or many metropolitan areas.  Large web hosts provide your customers with quick access time to your website.  They also take care of backing up and securing your data.

I only use excellent web hosts for your site, this gives you a very competitive low price with a very high quality experience.

More than just text E-mail
Having a website can also mean incorporating graphics, video, artwork and converting those items ready for the Web.  For most customers, I'm able to provide this support directly and include it in the basic package for their website.  I'm also very sensitive of budgets.  I'll let you know what technologies may require greater expenses and which ones are reasonably easy to do.

I help you know what costs are involved with web site features, so you never get sold more than what you really need.
